Edelkorund is corundum consisting of at least 99.5% alumina (aluminum oxide), and is a suitable product for high-tech applications. It is white due to its low proportion of impurities, and polycrystalline structure. Manufacturers in the medical technology, aerospace engineering, optical and electronic industries, among others, benefit from this iron-free material with the highest purity and extreme hardness.
